In these, we see the origins of Republic City, the multicultural metropolis that would become home to Avatar Korra, as the Fire Nation colony of Yu Dao, in which Fire Nation colonists and Earth Kingdom natives had become so intertwined as to be inseparable.
This era is largely chronicled in the Avatar comics, which take place over the course of the handful of years immediately following the TV series' end.
